Sleazy Insurance Guy Stars in State Farm Spot

The following spot, via Miami-based Alma DDB, is currently running on the country’s major Spanish-language TV. The ad is part of a broader, multimedia push by State Farm labeled “Not a total loss,” featuring sleazy insurance execs trying to stay out from their commitment to pay out their customers.

(I personally love the Rata de dos patas musical touch on the background. What do you think?)

I love the concept. Actually reminds me of a TV program in Mexico, can’t remember the name, but it always was “no hay no hay”. The sleazy guy acts well. The other guy is flat as a pancake and not engaging at all. You don’t feel for him, rather, you thin, what an asshole, but it didn’t move me to consider State Farm at all.

If you think about it hard, it is a spot against ALL car insurance companies, and it doesn’t really give us any reason whatsoever to choose State Farm.

If I were State Farm, I would be thinking very very hard on why the agency chose not to create a preference for the brand. Hmmmmm.

Marcelo: I thought the exact same thing!!! From now on, every time I see a sleazy insurance person, I’ll think of State Farm. I don’t think this is good for their brand. (Laura: you say you like the song in the background.. yes it’s good but it doesn’t give Paquita a good name either!)

Nunca había visto algo tan gracioso!! No paro de reirme!!! Es de Crispin?
